Isolate bacterial contamination from Iraqi currencies notes and determination of their resistance to antibiotic

Background : Paper currencies are widely exchanged, and because they exchanged from one place to another person another, can serve as ways of transmission multi-resistant bacterial diseases. Objective The aim the study is isolate contamination in Iraqi currency determine their antibiotic resistance Mosul City. Materials Methods 30 samples paper were collected five local sources population community examined using cultivation. developing colonies on selective culture media identified gram stain biochemical tests. isolates for twelve standard antibiotics tested according clinical laboratory institute guidelines. Results out currencies, 27 (90%) contaminated with bacteria, 16 containing different mixed isolates. 48 ,37 (77%) Gram-negative bacteria 11 (22.91 %) Gram-positive belonging Seven species, species isolated, E. coli represent (11) (36.67%); Salmonella Klebsiella (7) (23.34%), Coagulase Negative staphylococcus Staph. aureus (4) (13.34%), Pseudomonas. aeroginosa Proteus. spp (13.34%). All isolated strains revealed high several such Bacitracin, Methicillin, Cefixime, Erythromycin, Azithromycin, while all showed susceptibility (100%) Impenime, moderate sensitively Amoxiclav Nitrofurantoin, Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole, Conclusion notes circulation majority which resistant commonly used antibiotics, posing risks public health exposures individuals handling notes.
